On 7 June 2018, the Hon Steven Marshall MP, Premier of South Australia, announced that the South Australian Government had signed the National Partnership Agreement on the Skilling Australians Fund.

This delivers on a key election promise of the South Australian Government to create an extra 20,815 apprentices and trainees over the next four years, and unlocks at least $87 million from the Commonwealth Government funding that will complement $100 million of State Government funding.

This is a significant increase in funding and an ambitious target for apprenticeships and traineeships.

Further announcements will be made in the coming weeks to detail how industry, employers, and training providers can partner with the South Australian Government to increase apprenticeships and trainees.
