Sport and RecreationThe Sport and Recreation industry sector has the highest population participation rate of any sector as it is the favoured use of free time and a recognisable part of the Australian psyche is an affinity to sport and outdoor activities. The sector is dominated by approximately 2/3 of micro businesses that have 4 employees or less and there is a high level of casual and part-time employment. The Sport and Recreation sector has a high reliance on goodwill from generally lower paid small businesses, community participation and volunteers. Volunteers are estimated to out number employees in this sector on a 4-to1 basis. The sector can be divided into four sub sectors: 1. Community Recreation 2. Fitness 3. Outdoor Recreation 4. Sport
