At Service Skills SA we specialise in two sectors:

Hair and Beauty
Massage PalourIn 2011 this vibrant industry was made up of 1458 businesses which provide hairdressing, nail, beauty and makeup services. Currently there are 8,500 people in this predominantly female workforce. Aside from technical skills this workforce needs to have numeracy and literacy skills and be able to relate to clients from different age groups.

Funeral Services
Coffin flowers handIn South Australia the Funeral Services industry is made up of 80 businesses which provide funeral directing, cemetery and crematoria operations, coffin and casket manufacture and monumental stone-masonry services. This industry is quite stable but there is a growing trend of people seeking more affordable funerals. Most business are family owned and operated and last year in South Australia they employed 400 people.



Training Package Coverage

HairdresserThere are two training packages SSSA covers for this industry which include:

Funeral Services Training Package (SIF)
Hairdressing and Beauty Services Training Package (SHB)

* NOTE: The Beauty Training Package (SIB10) and Hairdressing Training Package (SIH11) are being transistioned to the SHB hairdressing and Beauty Services Training Package.

Skills IQ is the new Skills Service Organisation (SSO) responsible to ensure the training packages remain industry relevant.

Skills Service Organisations (SSOs) support Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) to develop the training packages that industry needs and ensure they meet the needs of employers and stay current.
