Hair and Beauty
In 2011 this vibrant industry was made up of 1458 businesses which provide hairdressing, nail, beauty and makeup services. Currently there are 8,500 people in this predominantly female workforce. Aside from technical skills this workforce needs to have numeracy and literacy skills and be able to relate to clients from different age groups.
In South Australia the Funeral Services industry is made up of 80 businesses which provide funeral directing, cemetery and crematoria operations, coffin and casket manufacture and monumental stone-masonry services. This industry is quite stable but there is a growing trend of people seeking more affordable funerals. Most business are family owned and operated and last year in South Australia they employed 400 people.
