Commencing in 2007 this project produced an assortment of outcomes including an in-depth industry survey, the SA Hair & Beauty Careers Guide, a management focused Certificate IV in Hairdressing pilot course and the GET STAFFED workforce development resource. Most importantly it strengthened the SA Hair & Beauty Industry through its collaborative nature.
The S.A. Hair & Beauty Workforce Development Project produced an amazing set of quality outcomes and resources which included the SA Hair & Beauty Careers Guide, a management focused Certificate IV in Hairdressing pilot course and the GET STAFFED workforce development resource. A comprehensive set of recommendations promoted at industry forums lead to further collaborative industry training projects. Industry contributed over 3000 hours and $350,000 to this project.
Conducting the project over an 18 month period was essential to establish a trusting & productive relationship with the key stakeholders of the S.A. Hair & Beauty Industry. The success of this project has been heavily linked to the particularly strong affiliations developed with the industries key change agents, Hair & Beauty S.A. and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). The project also provided the platform for all resident public & private RTOs to come together to address issues as a united front. This project provides a model of industry sector engagement which can (should) be adapted and repeated for use across other industry sectors and sub sectors.
